It has been a long time since I completed my undergraduate degree in education. Consequently, has been a long time since I had to sit and truly reflect on what I believe the definition of teaching and learning to be. It was a valuable experience to research each of these definitions, looking at them now with a context of experience. It was also interesting to see the intricacies involved in the relationships that exist, not only between teaching and learning, as one may argue that is obvious, but the relationship between creativity and innovation. Viewing innovation as a creative process has, in fact changed the way that I think about innovation. Innovation is a creative process that implements new ideas in an effort to implement new processes or ideas. However, both innovation and creativity require leadership that is both accepting and patient with change and risk taking. Innovation and creation, given time, can have incredible benefits to both students and educators.
