Innovation, Teaching Learning and Creativity

Here's a thought ... as educators we want to promote creativity, yet often we actually stifle creativity but creating strict guidelines and objectives. What if educators could switch the agency from teacher to student? Working in a self directed environment has at times given me the opportunity to do just that. I have rarely been disappointed by what the students produce. In fact, more often than they end up producing far beyond the minimal requirements and I end up learning from them. Creativity is uniquely intertwined with innovation. Neither term is easy to define , but arguably both are easily identifiable. What drives creativity? who fuels innovation? How do we promote creativity and innovation, not only within our students but within our educators as well?
